What is Autism Spectrum Disorder?

If you look around, you’ll notice some children are different and uncontrollable, that people tend to criticize the parents for not teaching their children well. Not knowing what these parents are going through, because their children are on the Spectrum. It is people’s basic instinct to criticize because they are not aware that Autism Spectrum Disorder existed in some children. Only parents within the same case understand each other.

What is Autism?
Autism or Autism Spectrum Disorder is a condition that affects a child’s social interaction, communication and behavior. ASD symptoms vary from mild to severe, this includes impairment in verbal and non-verbal communication, difficult to socialize and interact with others, behavioral problems such as repetitive actions, engrossed with specific objects or spinning things, etc. Every child, even though with the same diagnosis has its own unique patterns and abilities because no child under the spectrum is the same.

What Causes Autism?
There are a lot of theories as to the causes of Autism, but there is no concrete evidence until now. Though some agree that is more about genetics, but because of the increasing number of cases, environmental factors are also considered.  Early childhood vaccinations are also pointed as one of the causes, but studies and researches show no relation at all.

Is there a Cure for Autism?
This is what parents with children under the spectrum are looking for a cure. But sad to say there is no cure found for Autism until now. All the parents can do is to provide the child with early proper intervention to correct behavior, improve symptoms so that they can live a better life. Early interventions will also focus and develop a child’s strong points that will help them overcome autism and improve their lives.
